Light Truck Market Share Jan 2014 vs Jan 2013

Chevy/GMC declined by 5%. (just over 33% of US market share in Jan 2014)

Ford up 1% (over 38% of market share in Jan 2014)

Ram up 4.3% (about 21% of market share in Jan 2014)

Toyota up .9% (only holds about 6.5% of the light truck market in the USA)

Nissan down by .4% (less than 1% of the light truck market in the USA)

GM most likely lost market share because GM didn't provide the dramatic sales incentives that Ford and Ram did and focused on higher profitability. The average transaction for GM was about $40,000 as compared to about $33,000 for Ford. Ford increased incentive spending by about 24% to GM's 4%.

Bottom line...Toyota and Nissan have a long way to go to catch up to the big boys in the light truck market.
