I guess it depends on what your idea of more comfortable is. I owned a Silverado and it didn't ride as good as my Tacoma or the other Tacomas I've been in. We drove my buddies Tacoma from Washington D.C. to Fort Collins straight through only stopping to eat, use the bathrooms and one 15min nap and it was as comfortable as I would expect to be on such a trip. Personally, I prefer my trucks to feel more like trucks and less like cars. I don't buy my truck for ultra plush road trip comfort nor do I buy it for Pruis-like fuel economy. If I can get decent in both of those categories while getting ultra reliable w/top-of-class off-road capability all while providing the best resale available.... I'm good. I don't expect it to ride like a Caddy nor would I want that. Somewhere around 20mpg works just fine for my needs. I don't have any horse trailers to haul so I'm good with my truck for my needs.
As doe interior... are you trying to so that a 2008 Silverado has superior interior quality because I have a hard time believing that's what you're saying. I'm not saying the Tacoma is wrapped in leather and the finest materials possible but it is put together well and I don't think my Silverado beat it in any way as far as interior goes other than room. It should also be noted that my Silverado was an SS so it was pretty much the flagship model as far as Chevy trucks of that vintage go. Sticker price was MUCH higher than that of my Tacoma new and current used values aren't even close.
I haven't had any troubles with my engine (only 40k miles so I wouldn't expect to either) but a few things are a PITA when working on them for sure. I had to pull my supercharger to do a plug change but that's not something everyone goes through and I knew what I was getting into when I bought it so no big deal. Common things are a breeze though. Oil changes take me about 10min total and I don't need any tools to do it either. The Silverado had it's own PITA things to work on though & this goes for every vehicle I've ever owned so it's tough to fault any one of them as each one has something that's a nightmare.

I agree, that's fugly. The idea though is that it cleans up the wind that the sides mirrors see which can reduce drag quite a bit at highway speeds so I get the function behind it and being as it's a clear lens you have to get just the right angle to even see it. Not everyone's cup of coffee.

Comparing a Silverado to a Tacoma is not apples to apples. I imagine my idea of being comfortable is pretty similar to yours, but I could be wrong. A scooter cross country would be as comfortable as you would expect it to be too. I enjoy having a full size truck and having nice ride quality too; I must be weird. You are right, Tacomas do ride "like a truck" just like my 3/4 Dodge Cummins rode like a 3/4 ton. In your words, if I can get a good compromise I'll be happy. My dad recently purchased a 2014 Tacoma Quad Cab and said the same exact thing you did. The Tacoma rides likes a truck and his old truck (my truck now) rides like a caddy. I don't own any horse trailers either, doesn't mean I shouldn't buy a truck. I didn't buy my Cummins for towing but having a 600hp+ daily driver was a lot of fun.
Superior interior? No. More options? Yes. I love being able to adjust everything from the radio (door chime, unlock/lock horn, brightness, auto door locks, etc). My dash shows, MPG, DTE, trip, engine hours, trans temp, oil life %, and more. It also has dual climate control, auto temperature control, all on a digital read out. I love that even though its only a extended cab, all four windows are power. The rear defroster is really handy in the winter too.
I doubt you would see any problems with 40K on your truck. I doubt you will see any problems in 200K either. Just like I doubt I will see any problems in my truck before 200K. Both my parents are happy owners of new Toyota's. Mom got a 2014 4Runner and Dad got a 2014 Tacoma four door. Both fully loaded TRD off road packages. Toyota's make nice vehicles in my opinion and they do have excellent resale value. My Dad searched for a used one but after seeing how much they cost used, he opted to buy new. With only a $5k-$7k difference between a used and new one, it was a no brainer. Warranty a lot of times pays for itself on a new vehicle. Maybe when dad is ready for another new truck I'll buy his Tacoma from him. Nothing against you or Toyota's, just stating my opinion since we are all entitled to one.

Since we're all entitled to opinions, here's mine:
How about we stop the Taco circle-jerk (Talking about you, Jer). The OP said he was looking for a Frontier and wasn't interested in Tacomas. When you insisted, he again said he had no interest in Tacomas. Stop shitting all over his thread and go start your own thread to worship Tacomas.

This thread has been over for a while now. I love how Mtn.man can go COMPLETELY off topic (like he just did again) and you're fine with that but if a bunch of people starting bagging on Tacomas & giving false information I'm going off topic by stating actual facts. Sure, my opinion is in there too but who's isn't in this thread? Even the people who are pro-Frontier or anti-Tacoma are basing most all of their false rhetoric on false information that they're presenting as fact here. I don't give two shits who buys what I'm just trying to make sure false information isn't being presented as fact. Unlike some others here I don't measure my life based on if someone else buys what I tell them to or not... I really couldn't give less of a shit really. I'll be the first one to admit (and have) that what's best for me isn't best for everyone else. How people can see this as a cause for contempt & attack me personally is beyond me. You can go back to the beginning and see that it was me who was attacked to begin with when all I was trying to do was add solicited info to the thread and correct some misinformation. Yeah..... I'm off topic and shitting all over this guy's thread.![]()
