Don't confuse Soylent Tan with Soylent Green...

First ingredient is Maltodextrin? Generally considered a food additive, not a base for a "food"
At best, Maltodextrin could be considered the same as glucose- sounds great for the diabetic prone

Ha!, they actually do have a tie-in with the movie (sort of):

    Is there soy in Soylent?
Hardly any. Soylent contains small amounts of soy lecithin (which does not contain any of the allergen-causing elements of soy). The name “Soylent" comes from the book Make Room! Make Room!
    From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Make_Room!_Make_Room!
The novel was the basis of the 1973 science fiction movie Soylent Green, although the movie changed much of the plot and theme and introduced cannibalism as a solution to feeding people.[2]

Dont knock it until you have tried it. A good friend was one of the backers. The concept is great.
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

The article has comments from people that tried it and who knock it. Cardboard smelling, beige goo. Doesn't sound appetizing. And at $4 a meal it isn't going to feed starving populations in 3rd world countries.

The only way I'd drink that is if I was going in for a glucose fasting test...
