There were earthquakes long before anyone was drilling for anything.
I like it here because the earth is more stable than a lot of other places. I've lived through some big quakes in California. Not fun. Now I notice when floors bounce in office buildings or when a heavy truck goes by on an overpass...and I wish I didn't.

a 3.4?
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquak...age/usc000r9pp
Oklahoma had a 3.7 and a 3.0 today as well... how much seismic activity do they have normally?
In Alaska, I thought a friend was playing a joke on me bouncing my car around when I was working under the dash... that was a 5.1
I slept through a 6.2 when I was 16...
(keep in mind, it's a base10 Logarithmic scale- so a 4.4 is 10X worse than a 3.4, and and 5.4 is 100X worse than a 3.4)
I always considered 4.0 the threshold for "noticing"... you could feel a 3.0 or higher, but if you freaked out every time you felt something that was that minor, you'd become paranoid.. I mean, I'd rather become paranoid over something related to the gov't...![]()

"You can have earthquakes this size just about anywhere in the country," Paul Earle, a seismologist with the USGS, said. "One of the possibilities is that this is a naturally occurring earthquake due to stresses that have naturally occurred in the earth's crust."
Many 9NEWS viewers asked if fracking had anything to do with the earthquake. Earle said earthquakes like this have been caused by underground disposal of fracking waste water, but it is far too early to determine if that was even going on in the area of the earthquake. A team of seismologists is investigating.

I was about 1.5-2 miles from the epicenter. It was pretty loud. I thought a semi had wrecked or something blew up nearby.
