There's a good chance I'm going camping in WY this weekend, odds are I'm taking the Dodge 1500 with normal CO plates (as my BMW has the CO US Army plates- I'd assume less likely to be stopped for stop and sniffs)... I'll report back if I get stopped and asked if they can search. Of course having 2 rifles, a shotgun, and 2 pistols might mitigate any pot searches if they ask if I have any weapons in the car.

Reminds me of my road trip back from FL (with an overnight stop at Anniston, AL) when I retrieved my gun collection from the friend who had been storing it for me while I was overseas. Back of the Explorer was stacked with about a dozen M-1s, two 1903A3s, several Winchester 52s, several Mossberg 44USes, an M-1A, Mossberg 500, several pistols, and cases of 7.62 and .30-06 ammo. I had blankets over the top so as not to alarm people that passed me on the road but I made dang sure I wasn't going over the speed limit ...

My beer of choice at the time was Henry Weinhart's, which wasn't available in GA at the time, so naturally I stocked up on it to take back with me, to the tune of about 6 cases of the stuff. ... He told me it was probably illegal to do that, but it was only 15 minutes to the end of his shift, and he wasn't gonna try to figure out what to charge me with.

I'm going on over 2x that length of time w/o a ticket since I started using radar detectors. If I get pulled over and get a ticket I sure as shit will know why I got one too though & won't post on forums acting clueless.

Been to Casper 3 times this past year and never got pulled over and didn't really see anything different. However going to Liberal, Dodge city and Garden City KS working in the meat packing plants, the workers see the CO plates and tend to ask me if I have any weed or if there's way they can get it across the border. Always fun telling them obscure ways they can and the "border check point" you have to go through now, complete bull shit but it's fun screwing with morons.

I had the same experience as the above poster. Went to Casper over the memorial day weekend did the speed limit didn't drive crazy and had no problems at all. Saw cops all in the other lanes opposite of our direction of travel. With all the hype I was half expecting to have to port like I would driving a semi and get a shake down but no such issues.

I have one, useless. False signals all the time, so its wadded up in the boot.

Dont misunderstand me captain obvious. I dont mind being pulled over if I deserve it, I TRY not to deserve it, stuff happens.

If you buy the proper one (read: no false alarms) & use it properly (read: let someone else speed a ways up in front of you) your likelihood of getting a ticket reduces dramatically.
