    Default Insurance for mtn property

So people with mountain property with a house or cabin who do you use for homeowners insurance? Also what is your approximate cost per $10,000 of insurance?

It's getting harder and harder to find someone who'll insure in "red" areas. We have a log home and that's even harder. Our insurance costs us about $45 to $50 per $10k for pretty much top of the line coverage...includes a 1200 sq ft shop.

Allstate cancelled our policy because we refused to "remove all combustible material" within 300' of the house. I get mitigation but I'm not gonna remove the grass and everything else for a 300' radius around the house.

Who do you use for insurance? The cabin I'm looking at is smaller than your shop. and the quote I have received is double that.
