People are kidnapped in Afghanistan all the time.. the only thing different is that the news posted it this time. Mostly the people committing the crime just want money, they get it from family members or the company that sent them there to work and the people go free. The current couple went missing in 2012.. it is likely that for whatever reason their people here can't raise the money to get them released and now the family is taking it public.
