I had an interesting experience over the last few weeks that I thought I would share.
I had a battery quit in my motorcycle on the way to work a few weeks back, due to a bad voltage regulator. It started losing power, and I was able to get from the left lane of I-70 to the exit at Denver West , where it quit about 20 yards up the exit ramp. I was resigned to walking the 3ish miles to the shop to get the pickup, when a young man with NM plates pulls up behind me, and asks if he can help. So, we hook up the jumper cables and put enough charge on the battery to get the fuel pump working again, and he follows me to the shop, to make sure I get there ok. I of course offered to buy him breakfast, but he declines, saying that I should pay it forward. So I thank him, and he goes on his way.
This morning as I'm getting off the highway, there's a car stalled at the light at the bottom of the on ramp. I pull up behind it, and get off the bike, and ask the young lady behind the wheel if I can help. She tells me that the gas gauge doesn't work, and she ran out of gas. She's stuck in a rather dangerous spot, so I offer to push her across the intersection, out of harm's way. As it turns out, once we get around the corner, she can coast the half block or so to the gas station. She offers me 10 buck for the help, and I decline, saying to pay it forward. She thanks me, and I proceed on to work.
Oddly enough, things seem to be working out my way more than normal today at work. Coincidence, or maybe there's something to this positive Karma thing?
