I have a scar on my knee because I only looked three ways when crossing a street. I was in the cross walk too. As I approached the intersection I looked for oncoming traffic, then for traffic to my right, and finally over my shoulder for traffic coming up behind me. I didn't even break my stride as I walked out into the intersection. I didn't bother to look to my left for the bozo in the Mustang that was going the wrong way on a one way street. He also ran a stop sign.
The first thing my Dad said to me after I told him what happened was "Now you know why I tell you to drive like everybody is out to kill you". So I had it emphasized to me to not trust humanity, especially Mustang drivers.
Making good people helpless won't make bad people harmless.
Not to defend the guy, but if he was going the wrong way on a one way street he probably didn't notice the stop sign since it would be facing backwards and on the left side of the street. Just saying.
I was going to say the same thing, but he probably ran the stop sign on a side street and turned the wrong way onto the one way street.

That's just crazy on my part. All these years and I never realized that. He was turning right from a side street onto a four lane street with two lanes both directions. I always remembered that turning from the street he was on to the four lane was a required stop. I figured we were looking in the opposite directions because he was looking left to check traffic and I was looking right to check traffic.
At any rate I learned to look all directions including the wrong way. The fortunate thing is I only ended up with a cut knee and a few bruises from my roll across his hood.
Making good people helpless won't make bad people harmless.
