Default Shooting in Black Hawk Hotel

    LINK

Interesting....guns are not allowed in ANY of the casinos up here. How could this have happened?

I actually recognize this woman. Bad press for the Isle.

Woman Arrested After Man Shot To Death In Black Hawk Hotel

BLACK HAWK, Colo. (CBS4) – A suspect is in custody after a shooting death in Black Hawk.
The shooting happened Tuesday morning inside a room at the Isle Hotel and Casino. Tony Velasquez, 26, from Thornton, was killed after being shot in the head.

An acquaintance of Velasquez, identified by police as Colleen Marie Loris, 43, was booked into the Gilpin County Jail late Tuesday afternoon for second-degree murder and other charges related to the incident.

Police said there were several other people in the room when the 911 call came in around 6 a.m. They were held for questioning for most of the day.

One police officer told CBS4′s Jeff Todd that she’s been working in Black Hawk 12 years and it’s the first homicide case.

Are they not allowed by state law or are they just places that say we don't like guns? I don't remember the casinos there being mentioned as off limits in my CCW class.

Not saying I necessarily agree, but I can understand their thought process behind it. There is A LOT of money in a casino. Better to say no guns than worry about every patron that walks by a money cart after they lost their months rent.

You're right. I'm just trying to think from their perspective as opposed to my own.

I was up there the night the cops shot a guy in the parking garage of, I think, the Lodge.

I was working that night - at the Lodge actually. The shooting was right across the street at Golden Gates and I saw some of the action from the window (not the actual shooting but the frenzy surrounding it).

The story goes that the genius robbed a small casino in Central City (Dostal Alley IIRC) then came down to Black Hawk to play blackjack at Golden Gates. Of course the police heard he was there. When he spotted the police he ran into the parking garage with the police chasing him. Genius pulled a gun on a cop - thankfully it jammed. Police then plugged the bastard. Sadly, he didn't turn into worm food though.

Note to theives: casinos are about the last place you'll want to rob. Hundreds of cameras cover every single inch of the place, especially where the money is held. Within minutes of a crime the police can electronically send a picture of your happy ass to every surveillance room in the city with a "CONTACT PD IMMEDIATELLY" note attached to it.

I've had d-bags steal $5 from someone in our casino and they were found within minutes in another casino in town. Pretty impressive, really. The Gaming Officers in this State do not f-around.

If anyone has a spare EMP, I can reveal a few secrets for a cut of the action.
