Default I'm thinking of buying a Frontier...

So that time has come, where I'm just no longer happy with owning a car anymore and desperately want a truck and also, for recreational purposes, need the ground clearance. That's right, I'm gonna get rid of the Beemer As with my guns, I never go into an auto purchase without extensive research. My criteria was simple: smaller truck (not full-size), decent on gas, decently priced, good power (work in Denver, live in Evergreen, for now, I-70WB sucks without power), relatively inexpensive to fix. After weeks of research I found that the better option was the Nissan Frontier ('09-'13). Shockingly it got higher marks than the Toyota Tacoma (which I also found holds its value incredibly well, so no check in the decently priced box). So my question is, does anyone on here have an '09 or newer Nissan Frontier? What are the positives? What are the negatives? If you could do it all over again, would you still buy it?

Also, other questions came up... With my car, I can load up my guns in the trunk and off I go, but now with the decision to get a crew cab pickup, there comes the safe (relatively) and hidden storage of long guns. Besides "throw a blanket over it" is there any kind of truck storage for guns- like possibly a locking, pull-out drawer that installs under the back seat (if there's room)?
    Thanks!

You should see if honeyB still has their nissan, xterra? same frame / chassis. Myself, if storage as a concern i'd lean towards a sealed unit. I store our firearms in the clubcab / back seat of truck, unless it's a to & from range trip. Putting a locker , gun safe in the truch bed defeats the purpose of having a p.u truck. Consider a tool box for storage.

I had a Frontier crew cab I bought brand new. Had it for a couple of years. It had the off road package. V-6 with a stick shift. Decent enough truck. Not really any room in the back seat for anyone over the age of 12. Couldn't get anything over about 16 miles per gallon. Figured if I was going to get that kind of mileage I might as well drive a full size truck instead.

Sold it and haven't looked back.

My dad's cousin swears by Nissan trucks. We had a '90 hard body that just ran forever. I don't know about the newer ones, but historically my experience with Nissan trucks has been solid. My neighbor has a fairly new one (but probably around '05). You could look into getting a lock box that spans the bed.

Why rule out full size trucks? My '08 Silverado 1500 gets 17mpg city and 20mpg highway consistently. Has plenty of room as well. My '05 Silverado was very reliable and solid.

Nothing against Tacomas as I would love one but they are just so expensive. Loved the one I had in high school. My dad bought one new back in 2006 and loved it. He decided in 2008 to trade it in on a new 2008 Silverado and kept that till last month when I purchased it from him. After searching high and low for a used Tacoma he decided to buy a new 2014 Tacoma. When 2010 Tacomas are going for $25K+ and a new one is $30K it was kind of a no brainer.

I have an 03 Frontier extended cab supercharged, it's been good. Could have better MPG, solid truck, good power. Traded a Tacoma for it not much difference both reliable. Don't have any info on newer ones.
