    so how long can you make that lower tube before it starts getting scraped by the shot?

    It will get powder burn for sure no matter the length, but for pellots actually hitting the end of the tube? maybe like 7 feet out.

    If that is his normal, it is 14+1, with a tube about 38" long and holds about 35" of shells. With a cylinder choke and cheap birdshot, the shot column diameter hits 1.5" at about 6 feet. That is when the pellets might start to actually contact a tube.
