Saturday, while attending the Evergreen Rodeo I made perhaps the worst phone call of my life, my grandfather went to the hospital at about 6AM, I called my dad to find out how things were going around 1:45 and he informed me that my grandpa had Pneumonia and that they had contacted Evergreen Hospice and weren't going to treat it. At the time he was living in an assisted living center up here, had been for about a week, and as soon he was released from the hospital they were going to move him back there to spend his final days/weeks/whatever. My dad and brother went to visit him on Tuesday morning, said he didn't look too good, and my mother and I planned to go see him Wednesday morning... Well that didn't happen. At around 6PM on Tuesday evening my 88 year old grandfather passed away. My dad, grandma and I went to say goodbye before the mortuary came and picked him up. He was one the most caring and honest men I ever had the honor of knowing. He did so much for the Evergreen community since moving here in 1946, including, but not limited to, serving in the US Army, distinguished service with the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department, Ambulance services, Kiwanis Club, Forest Heights Lodge, The Jeffco Children's Advocacy Center, and not to mention his founding of the family business with realty and insurance. Harold "Hal" G. Davidson, jr. you will be missed. At least I can say I know he's in a better place with my late uncle by his side.![]()
