I listen to rap music regularly but you'd be a fool to try to say as a lifestyle hip-hop & rap doesn't glamorize crime. I also don't see this sort of thing happening at a Sarah Mclaughlin performance at Red Rocks.

    Its entertainment.

Just like Sarah McLaughlin, country, metal, screamo, and what ever other music trends are out there. Some people just cant accept it for what it is, entertainment.

You'd also be a fool to live your lifestyle based on the music you listen to. I'm willing to bet, most of the people listening to rap music aren't gang banging. Just like I'm willing to bet the majority of people that listen to country don't know the first thing about living in the country.

I listen to country and I live in Edgewater. I also don't own Cowboy boots and a hat. But I do own guns!

Yup, I listen to country and rap (and pretty much everything else), but I bet anyone who has met me, wouldn't peg me for either genre.

Who says that I do? That doesn't mean that LOTS of people do though. Crime happens at hip-hop/rap concerts at a much higher rate than those like I mentioned or similar and this is why I don't attend them just like I don't walk down dark alleys in bad parts of Detroit. The lifestyle that surrounds each music type is what it is and you can't glorify crime for decades and not expect there to be more crime at the concerts where said music is performed. That's just life.

I'm well aware Jer, that you do not live the life style of a gang banger, you are vocal enough on the forums for me to see that.

Now let's not get off track, and twist the discussion into something it never was. I never said crime cannot be associated with rap music, in fact I'd go as far to say rap probably has the closest connection to crime out of any genre. My argument is against the comment making a blanket statement against everyone that listens to rap music.

For every one person that listens to rap and gang bangs, there are probably ten who do not gang bang (this is just a random number to be used as an example).

I think we're saying the same thing and I don't subscribe to the idea that anyone who listens to hip-hop/rap music is a thug gang banger if someone in this thread made that statement. That being said, you tell me that shots were fired at a NAS concert and I'm not even wasting the time to research the 'facts' to determine if that's accurate or not.
