    Default Teen Idolized Columbine killers

"Then my plans were to enter and throw Molotov cocktails and pipe bombs and destroy everyone, and then when SWAT comes I would destroy myself," he said.
After his arrest, police say, LaDue told them the plot was written down in a notebook and kept in a locked guitar case in his room. LaDue also said he had an assault rifle, a number of handguns and 400 rounds of ammunition in a gun safe that was also in his room. Search warrants were issued, and police recovered seven firearms, ammunition and three functional bombs from LaDue's home, along with black clothing and a ski mask.

Sounds like he wouldn't even attempt to go up against SWAT. I wonder why not. Perhaps if he was used to challenging himself, he wouldn't be in the mindset he is today.

Damn good thing he kept that rifle from getting out and assaulting everybody.
On a serious note: I am overjoyed this maniac's plans were foiled.

Probably because his "free for all" would come to an abrupt stop when an armed force showed up.

I really think this whole mental illness thing is being blown way out of proportion. Is violent mental illness suddenly a more common thing? We've had mental illness for ages, but only now is it really spilling out into society and killing people. I think that's just becoming another scapegoat for this behavior and attitude. I think it's less people are mentally ill and more people are just screwed up and want attention so bad that they go to the most extreme measures to gain notoriety.

I do not know it is blown out of proportion or not. But times have changed and "everyone" is okay and no one will take "responsibility." The turning out of those who used to be institutionalized has put more out into the general population. Some will argue chemicals are also creating disorders that are new. The amount of metabolized and non-metabolized pharmaceuticals in the water had increased significantly in the past 20 years. There are a few cases where MDs have opined that drug interactions due to a prescribed medicine and one introduced through food and water had cumulative and severe effects. Also, 20 to 30 years ago, the kid who was a bit "off" got dealt with old school and modified his behavior or ended up in jail. The social climate as well as chemical influence are both factors.

I think it's a general lack of accountability from the top down. No one is responsible for their actions; it was someone else's fault, my daddy didn't hug me enough, somebody told me no in this everyone's-special-get-a-trophy-for-showing-up-write-a-blog-call-myself-a-journalist-there-is-no-right-and-wrong-roller-coaster-to-hell-Liberal-mess that passes for society these days.

17 yrs old. Has guns and ammo in a safe in his room. He had a storage unit where he was making explosives.
Just how did the parents have no clue? Wake the fuck up and start being parents. That's the damn problem. Keep your eyes and ears on your kids. Pay attention to what they are doing. Have an interest in your kids activities and what they are doing and how they are acting. So many douche bag parents just pass the buck saying the had no idea bla bla bla. Fact is they have no idea who their kids are or what they are doing. Too damn busy with their jobs or social scedual to have time for the kids. This is the result.
