    Default HOOT Septic Systems

I have a fancy shmantzy HOOT Aeration septic system that's acting up. Anyone know much about these?

Specifically, I'm getting an "Aeration Problem" alarm (air pump isn't cycling on), plus the pump that is supposed to run once a day into the leachfield won't cycle on unless I turn the breaker on, then off. I hope the friggin board isn't fried or something.

Never heard of a Hoot system. Leach field pump sounds like "switch" or a breaker issue.

Now I have to go look up a Hoot system. I did alot of research when I built our septic system and never came across it, makes me curious.

I design septics for a living, but I have only ever speced one hoot system. It never got installed, so I am not very familiar with how the control panel is set up.

For your pump I would check your floats. Floats tend to go bad pretty quickly. It sounds like the pump is operational, but no signal is getting to the panel to turn it on.

The Hoot system was distributed by Front Range Precast in boulder, not sure if they are still selling them. I would give them a call or check with a good pumper, they are usually somewhat knowledable on the operations and maintenance of the fancier systems. Vic with Foothills Septic would be a good contact and he works in the Gilpin County area. Tell him Jennifer from Eastbound Westbound gave you his name.
