Default Crack in windshield needs repaired

    Anybody do this?
im quite annoyed, brand new truck, just hit 1000 miles today and caught a rock from a good 100 yards back that gave me about a 4-5" crack from the very top at about where the passenger looks out.

ive read it can be done on cracks up to 12 inches and I don't believe my insurance covers windshields

Probably under your deductible; which is good.

I work for a major auto glass company, and we are only allowed to fix cracks up to 6 inches long. It should be covered by your insurance, and it won't count against you.

Geico is my carrier if that makes a difference. Do I need to get onto my account and file a claim or do I just go to one of those glass crack fix it tents and see what they say?

Geico really? Get a real insurance carrier and cover it under glass.

So what exactly is "real" insurance?

The lizard speaks to me, plus it was the best price for the coverage I wanted

Make sure you have glass coverage. A lot of companies will cover it under glass, but if you don't have the specific wording in your policy, it goes under comprehensive and is subject to your deductible.
If you have 5 other claims this year, it might not be accurate to say it won't go against you. Otherwise, you are likely okay.
