At 15 yards I would bet a Glock front sight would cover a paper plate.
It covers about 2/3 of the 9" plate.

Yes. Mostly. I would like to be accurate AND precise with any weapon I plan on using.

What's hickox45's overall group size on steel, continually? The stuff he puts out, cherry picks the good from bad.
No idea, but at the end of a several minute (uncut) video, he puts 4/5 shots onto various tiny steel plates in the distance with a G26. I want to be able to do that.

Of course self defense scenarios will likely never allow time for such precise shots, but that isn't the point of this type of training.

While it's good to have goals, remember that Hickock has his own personal range that hasn't changed for years and he shoots at often. That is to say that while it is impressive, he may not be as quick to make those great shots in a different setting.

You find any local matches to shoot yet?

    Very true. I can dream, can't I?

The range on Vandenberg AFB normally has IDPA matches once a month, but they are on hold UFN. Visitor access to base is currently limited, and several of the organizers are visitors (as opposed to active duty).

This discussion has motivated me to clean my Glock 19c, which has not been cleaned since I froglubed it in 2012. It's probably had between 1500 and 2000 rounds fired since then. While it hasn't led to failure, it was getting very gummy inside. I pulled large chunks of goo and debris out of it. Wow. I disassembled the entire trigger housing and cleaned that, as well as all of the slide components. If I were to pile up all the gunk I pulled/wiped out, it would probably make a pile about the size of a dime.

Stop using FL and something that really works , like synthetic motor oil. It seems the FL fanbois, have been withering on the vine, after seeing said product not live up to their expectations. Gummy is one of the issues.

Yep. I bought a quart of Mobil-1 about a year ago and figure it'll probably last me 50 years or more. Threw away the froglube garbage about the same time. It definitely had some advantages, but in the bigger picture, it just wasn't everything it should have been.

HB, have you tried extended mags in your G26? Seems that it may be grip related? If you can get a full hand on the G26 then that would determine if the groupings are the same as with the G19 or not.

I bought a cheap quart of synthetic oil and and with a huge grin on my face, was thinking about how smart I was for buying that because it will last me for 100 years. Then I dropped it on the floor with the lid off and spilled it everywhere.

It will still last me 99 years.

I had the same thought about the grip. Might try that out.

Both of my G26 mags have extenders to fit the pinky (but of course they don't add any capacity, because that would be super illegal and turn them into fully automatic ghost assault machine guns in CA). I'm going to order a Ghost Rocket 3.5 and I'll report back next time I get a chance to go to the range... which will likely be next week.

    ETA: Ghost Rocket 3.5 ordered.
