Default What did you do at the range lately?

As a spin-off of this thread, https://www.ar-15.co/threads/87717-W...ing-room-today I thought a "What did you do at the range today" might be cool. After all this is a site about firearms and we are shooters right?

I went to the range with a Revolver and a Bolt Gun, a Smith and Wesson 929 and an Accuracy International PSR. I shot a little bit of revo, maybe 150-200 rounds and then headed over to the rifle range.

I just got a new Bartlien 8 twist barrel in 6CM for it. I got lucky as my old pet load worked just fine. Then I yanked the barrel and swapped it over to 300 Win Mag (4-5 minutes tops to change calibers) for some load development. The first load I tried, 70.0 gns of H-1000 under a Berger 230 gn Hybrid put 5 rounds just under 3/8 at 100 yards. And Tim says this load development stuff is hard... Recoil was a lot less than I had thought it would be. Now to load up 20 more to see how they do at distance. Hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday. Might shoot the 300 this Sunday in Raton.

Took my three daughters 8-15 and one's friend to the pawnee. Shot 1ar, one 10/22, one 308 bolt, one 20 guage, a glock, and a 22 pistol. Shot paper and steel and everyone was safe and had fun.

Started off the day fishing with the two younger girls. It was a good day.

Nothing today but going with my daughter tomorrow - Monday out to Baker Draw. We are going to shoot pistols at paper.

IDPA yesterday, no range time today but my granddaughters helped me sort some cans of 38spl/9mm brass after we got back from the school playground.

Placed first in my class and division at a local IDPA match. As a surprise after the match, I was able to chrono a few of my reloads. My 180 gr .40s are averaging around 870 fps, which is plenty for IDPA, and a hair under Major power factor for USPA. From what I understand anyway.

So grasssmoker, reloading has Been good for you. Now you must locate the mysterious 10mm from your pickups.

Ran an ass-load of test loads through my 7-300 WSM, and figured out that I can go a LOT hotter than what I had thought at first, the rifle currently weighs in at only 9 1/2 lbs so my shoulder is sore as shit now. It's grouping most everything real well, but I'm definitely showing more speed from Retumbo, H1000, and RL25, vs the faster burning powders.

Then ran a couple test loads through my AR looking for a decent Long range load for it, and have it narrowed down to a couple could be winners, final testing on those next weekend.

Then confirmed the performance I'm looking for out of my new barrel burning load for my 260. A 123 gr Lapua moving out the business end at 3155 fps with an SD of 4.3, should do nicely. I'll double check them out at distance on the next range trip just to make sure, but so far at 300 yds they're still right at 1/2 moa.

I've got a can with separate baggies of different ammo. I think I gave the 10mm to DFBrews because he asked first. I guess you can be next on the list.

Ran 20 rounds of 45 ACP over the Chrono just to check the velocity, was hitting everything low at PPGC Steel Match last Friday. Had an avg of 832 fps using 230 gr LRN (Bayou Bullets) over 5.5 gr Unique & WSP; some room to grow there I believe. Not much experience with Cast Bullets.
