Default How many vacations do you take a year?

Just curious. I see a lot of people on Facebook posting all sorts of vacations on a somewhat regular basis. I wanted to see what's considered "normal" and how far off of normal I am. Haha. I'll take a day off here and there through out the year but as far as a true multi-day vacation, I may only take one every 2-3 years.

My job has the luxury of taking weeks off. But I usually take a week off summer, week in December around Christmas and the remainder of my time is a day here and there.

I take one real vacation a year, a week or so between Christmas and New Years to see the family and (usually) a week to attend Boy Scout camp. I'm not sure I would classify the latter as a vacation but it IS time off from (paid) work.

Same as you Dave. Maybe one full week a year. Lately it has been a bit more.

We usually take a week long vacation in the spring/summer where we go somewhere. I also take from just before Christmas to after New Years off but we usually don't go anywhere. I just hang with my boys since they are out of school.

My wife seems to think we need to take a vacation and go somewhere every year, I am trying to break her of that, too expensive.

I also take several long weekends off to camp or get stuff done around the house.

I have been with my employer for a long time so I get a decent amount of vacation time.

I get so much time off from work that I have to use or I loose that I end up taking a bunch. This year I took 10 days to Hawaii, I just took a week to Minnesota, I have a week off the first week in September, and I took a week off for SEMA in November. Looking at the numbers on top of that I still need to burn almost 2 more weeks before the end of the year and then I'll still have my max of 640hrs on the books.

I have an employee that took all of June and July off this year to go to England and I think he'll still need to burn more before the end of the year.

I guess it's one of the perks of the job.

    I have not had a bona-fide vacation since 06.

Vacation? Weeks off? Downtime? What are these things that you kid about?

I accrued time off during my 50 years of employment so I now get 365 days a year off.

^ yep. I used to take off for 3 months to spend time in Indonesia/Singapore/Thailand in the winter. Last one was 2008 before the market crashed. As of now, between works, pets, and few freeloading family members, we are just glad if we could do a datenight once a month.
