I get 3 weeks of vacation a year but usually only take one (the week of Thanksgiving to go visit family) This year I'll probably take most of mine. Took a couple days in May to go back to KS for a family reunion, being held because my dad was not likely to make it to Christmas, then out for the week of the 15th-21st since dad DIDN'T make it (died the 14th) and will probably go back for Thanksgiving this year in part so Mom's Thanksgiving is close to normal, in part because my wife's niece has a baby due in late October.
Otherwise I occasionally take a Friday and/or Monday off for a long weekend, but really should make sure I take all my vacation (since I can only carry over one week at the end of the year).
As for taking vacations for fun ... we never do that because we can't afford to go anywhere. However we do live where we'd vacation if we'd have stayed living in Kansas.

I usually take five weeks off every year. Usually not more than one week at a time. I wouldn't count four of those weeks as legitimate "vacations". I usually take one "vacation" a year due to budgetary constraints.
This year is Maui. Next year will likely be the Virgin Islands to save some money.
Before my spinal injury I would backpack through Europe for 3-4 weeks every year. Then just take 3-day weekends with the rest of my days hanging out in the mountains here or hold-em tournaments in vegas.

Best way to get in to see me at the shop is to call or email Shannon and make an appointment.
I get 2 weeks vacation, 3.5 personal days, 7.5 paid holidays, and 3.5 dependent care days. Next year I get 3 weeks vacation. We won't talk about sick time...

Don't be stupid!!!!!
I'm self employed so unfortunately my days off are very few and far between, especially since it involves IT things rarely can wait until I get back. Many perks to owning your own gig, but this is definitely one of the downsides. I'm in desperate need of being offline for a week or so to recharge...
