Default Looking for recommendations for Northern Colorado Gunsmith.

And yes I know BPTactical. I have used him to thread my barrels before. I searched all through our forums and there is no info about NOCO gunsmiths. Everytime someone asks everyone says go to BP. Not everyone wants to drive a two to three hundred miles between dropping off and picking up.

I am looking for actual northern Colorado gunsmiths. AS in Greeley, Windsor, Eaton, Ault, Kersey, get the picture? I dont travel. Northglenn-Thornton is 75-80 miles away (each way) and really isnt local.

I see a couple gunsmiths listed in Greeley and Windsor. Has anyone used them? for good or bad. I need two 10/22 barrels chopped and threaded and a 22/45 threaded for suppressors. And maybe a Cricket barrel threaded for a suppressor. Which I understand means welding some material to the end of the barrel in order to have something to thread.

Barrel threading is all I need done, so let me know if you know someone competent in this area who can do it. (and who doesnt take forever)

Try the gunsmiths at Rocky Mtn Shooter's supply in Ft Collins (old Hamblin's). Chuck Holt, and Gavin? have been pretty good to me so far. I've seen some custom muzzle brakes from that shop, seamless installs.

You know UPS delivers down here HBAR.....
Whoever told you the Cricket needs the muzzle welded up is somebody to stay away from.
Absolutely no need to weld it up and if you did, kiss any hope of decent groups and consistency bye bye.

i know ups delivers, but it is 30 miles each way just to mail it ups. So it would be 120 miles just to mail the items and then the expense of shipping. I thought I might as well only have to have the 120 miles but drop it off direclty with the smith. If nobody else is available close it will be you. You did it right the first time. For sure.

As far as the cricket. I thought it was someone this forum who said they had to build it up because there isnt anything to thread. Maybe it was another forum.

    edit.

It looks like since the barrel is less than 1/2" in diameter at muzzle, you have to either make a permanent thread adapter or a removable one.
