    Concord Hymn

    Ralph Waldo Emerson

    By the rude bridge that arched the flood.
    Their flag to April's breeze unfurled,
    Here once the embattled farmers stood
    And fired the shot heard round the world.

    The foe long since in silence slept;
    Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
    And Time the ruined bridge has swept
    Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.

    On this green bank, by this soft stream,
    We set to-day a votive stone;
    That memory may their deed redeem,
    When, like our sires, are sons are gone.

    Spirit, that made those heros dare
    To die and leave their children free,
    Bid Time and Nature gently spare
    The shaft we raise to them and thee.

    Gentlemen. He knows. He's yanking your chain - sort of...

    He's also reminding everyone how the populace of Boston responded to the actions of federal/state/local law enforcement troops in Boston following the marathon bombing. Most people didn't object to what occured because it was in the interest of their "safety".

    I thought of both instances.

    One led to liberty, the other was another example of "the ends justify the means".

    If you block a road you have to expect to get arrested. I applaud them but they have to know that is what it'll come to. Try holding a peaceful anti-nuke protest in front of Warren AFB and block the main entrance. You won't last long.
