1911 Question ......Please help

Today my 1911 was "light striking" the primer on every other round. The primer was dented, just not enough to fire. I took out the firing pin, making sure it was clean...it was. I even put in another pin spring. What could be the problem? Possibly the hammer? I would greatly appreciate any ideas. BTW I was using my own reloads and I'm a reloading newbie. Bobby

Nope. I wish I could find some rifle primers though. I installed a really light spring so I think that will fix the problem.

Can you do that? I mean, seated all the way in the pocket is where they should be..

What 1911? Series II Kimber?

High primers can do this.

First hit of the firing pin seats the primer, second hit lights it off.

What reloader are you using?

Primers should be just under flush and never higher.

Is the gun fully closed/in battery? If not, ammo is not sized correctly.

Some 1911 types use a titanium firing pin. It takes a real firm strike to work properly. Does the round fire with a second strike?
