    Default Laws for private sale

I was searching through the forums trying to find any information on fed/state laws that apply to selling a firearm privately. Does anyone know what laws apply or can someone link me to another thread with this info? I'm going to be selling one of my firearms privately.

    Thanks
    Brian

A Colo. resident may sell a gun to another Colo. resident without any restriction other than if you know the person is not legally entitled to own a gun (known felon, known non resident, known under age).

If it's between two parties that are citizens of the same state, and the purchaser is not barred from owning a firearm, then state law dictates the requirements of the transaction.. in Colorado, if the above requirements are met, there is no paperwork required...

if the transaction takes place across state lines, or between citizens of different states, then Federal law has jurisdiction, and the firearm must be transferred through a FFL (Federal Firearms License) holder in the receiving state... some FFLs will not accept shipments from non- FFLs, so a FFL may be required in both states..

all that being said, I am not a Lawyer, so this is not a professional opinion- just how I understand it.. and it is accurate to my knowledge.

You have to be 18 to purchase a gun. You can sell a pistol to a person who is 18, but when they say under age, they mean 18.

MB888, I'm a little disturbed that you even knew where to find a pic like that.
