Default Obama just announced sanctions against Kalishnikov (and other Russian entities)

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-0...sanctioned-you

Have no idea how these sanctions will be implemented or how they will affect the import, sale, or possession of Russian-made AK variants and parts here in the US.

“This case should be a warning to us all that even the most trusted appearing among us are ready to do real harm,” she said.

This tidbit from the same side of the aisle who says Obama will never ban guns

Just means you have to bend one more receiver. Chinese and russian assets / firearm import bans have been in effect since Bush 1. They stopped russkie ammo, it went from $85 per K to $400+. Those were good times.
Most AK's are US assembled here from import parts, just one more work around to deal with.

It's the Sanctions this administration will sign on a friday, that will screw everyone.

Obama is so effing stupid, just like the idiots who voted for him.

Putin has a deal with China.
Putin has a deal with Iran.
Putin has a deal with BRICS.

Putin does not need the United States.

Maybe the demise of the dollar as reserve currency will happen faster than anticipated.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see how these new sanctions are going to affect 99.9% of existing U.S. AK owners or the retail supply of new AKs. How many gun buys or retailers have direct dealings with Kalashnikov? Not to mention there are plenty of good alternatives like Arsenal to choose from. Although I do expect AK retailers to whip up hysteria to move more stock at a higher price point.

It has nothing to do with AK's (specifically) more so than it has to do with guns in general. Read the link i posted. April the left wants certain guns barred from import because NO ONE CAN BE TRUSTED, NO ONE.
Next step is back door cosmetic specific restrictions. Then ammo, dominoes falling slowly, but surely. They cannot do it with votes in congress, do it like the shithead progressive leech he is. Chicago Style

OK, so the left is diabolical and Machiavellian and all that, no argument here, but back to the issue at hand - the newly announced sanctions and how they will affect the import and availability of AK-pattern rifles (or optics) with Russian components. I would expect Russian ammo imports to be next on the chopping block. The Ukraine situation seems to be getting worse, so more sanctions seem likely.

Not much for some time. The .gov browses through a pick list of opposing team companies. They select ones that the .gov hopes would feel the pinch hard enough , to have putin do what the line in the Sand mouth piece wants. Having one of the companies be associated with firearm imports to the US, that's topping on the cake.

Realistically, stressing out at this point in time about guns and ammo availability is a lost cause. One should have been stacking high and deep, once one was legally able to buy said items.

    ONE MORE ITEM.
Thanks for starting a topic / discussion that is devoid of buzz words and C&P articles.

More on the sanctions, along with the now-standard Obama proclamation that "Our patience is running out."

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/...0FL2AL20140717

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama imposed the biggest package of U.S. economic sanctions yet on Russia on Wednesday, hitting Russia's largest oil producer Rosneft and other energy, financial and defense firms, with what he called significant but targeted penalties.

Obama's latest round of sanctions came after close consultations with European leaders, who announced a less-ambitious package. The ultimate impact of the U.S. sanctions likely depends on whether the European Union follows suit.

The extent of the sanctions against key parts of the Russian energy and financial industry, including Gazprombank, was intended to serve notice to Moscow that its refusal to curb violence in eastern Ukraine has consequences.

The targeted companies also include Russia's second-largest gas producer, Novatek, Vnesheconombank, or VEB, a state-owned bank that acts as payment agent for the Russian government, and eight arms firms.

The U.S. Treasury Department said the measures effectively closed medium- and long-term dollar funding to the two banks and energy companies. But the sanctions did not freeze those four companies' assets, or otherwise prohibit U.S. firms or companies from doing business with them.
