There had been a NOTAM (Notice to airmen) published several hours beforehand to avoid the flight path this flight was on because of it being over a conflict zone and aircraft being shot down in the region already.

It is also self defense the mother and father missiles teach to the younger missiles. If they are bullied they are taught to use these tactics to remain control, defeat the threat but not self destruct. There are no Muslim versions, as they always self destruct.
