Refinishing an ak and was going to paint the new receiver, but kinda like the traditional look.

I have quite a bit of experience with rust bluing, but the thing is I have done all of it in N.Y. ,with the high humidity out there it rusts overnight.
I haven't tried it out here yet, but plan on doing a few test pieces to see what the best method would be.
What I'm thinking for my first run would be is to steam the pieces after I apply the solution, basically hang the piece over a pot of boiling water and see how that does. Although with all the wet weather we've been getting out here might not have to go with a hot box this year so I'll try the plain old method of letting it sit overnight and see.
I use the Brownells classic rust bluing solution and it really comes out great .
I'll keep you posted on what I come up with.

I used Mark Lee express brown #2. I think is is similar to the Brownell's. It worked great. I think it is marketed for the flintlock crowd.
Hot plate and pan of water for humidity.

Another thought I had was to put it by the dryer ducting. Seems to be humid by the vent, but you might have to put some kind of screening around your work to prevent dryer lint.

hang the parts in your shower?
I've noticed the last week or two while working construction in homes with swamp coolers how much more humid they are than the air outside. If you have a swamp cooler your house may be more humid than you think.
