I don't know anyone who received a bunch of benefits as illegals. My dad certainly didn't. The illegals I was around didn't go for food stamps or welfare - and the application process would attract attention to you, which is something they dislike for obvious reasons.
Do you have a link to a credible study showing that occurs? The only thing I've ever seen is a NumbersUSA study where the methodology is a flat assumption that illegal immigrants use social services at the exact same rate as legal residents in their same ethnicity/wealth level, with no reason to justify that assumption.
There's a lot wrong with the government. I don't think that illegal immigrants constitute a big part of that.
Maybe if you want to drive them away, we should make all illegal immigrants go to the VA for their medical services.
The fact that we have host home providers hosting minor illegals? How about the recent publish statistic that 57% of all illegal family is on welfare? For someone who has a strong opinion on the topic, you really need to look into this. The few families around you does not equal the big picture.

You miss the whole UNDOCUMENTED CHILDREN crisis the country had in june? Or did you forget as most of America, when it reached it's 2 week news cycle.
ISIS stole the spotlight from them.
Just as 9/11 saved that Senator or congressman from prison for Chandra Levy. Which conveniently they just happen to find a IIRC homeless person to take the fall.
PLEASE : trying to say ILLEGALS are not sucking off the teat of .gov is insulting to both of us. CA especially SoCal is bankrupt, their health system was destroyed by illegals using the system and a .gov who could not pay the tab, with Our Money. Lets not even go in to the Judicial /prison system.

No one here has gotten mad about them not being like us (hell, what does "us" look like?). Many of us are mad about people who potentially pose safety hazards or economic burdens jumping the line past legal immigrants. Personally, I would do away with all immigration quota numbers but strictly enforce health and safety standards, criminal background checks, etc. and bar any recent (within the last 5 years) immigrant from receiving state or federal benefits during their "probation" period -- and ALL immigrants go to the back of the line for processing.
Tied to Al Qaeda, ISIS, organized crime from any continent, etc.? Get out of here. Have a communicable disease? Go home. No friends or family, no marketable skills, and no job prospects yet? Sayonara. Coming in with investment money to start a new business? Welcome, the banks are over there. Cousin Rudy is putting you up and guaranteeing your subsistence while you look for a job? Come on in. Married a US citizen? Here's some info on American history and civics, when can I schedule you for a naturalization test?
Broke the rules and hopped the fence, jumped off the boat, overstayed your visa, etc.? Get the eff out of here and don't come back.
Chunkmonkey: CIS and NumbersUSA are started by the same guy and use the same "study." If you go into their methodology the way they determined that illegals use welfare at that level is what I described above.
CIS and NumbersUSA were both started by a fellow named John Tanton, interestingly enough, who is a hardcore environmentalist and is way into population control. He actually got kicked out of the Sierra Club for being too whacko for them.
Kazoo (and others): Some perspective is needed. California's socialist system wouldn't work if only you got the illegals out. Its broken. Its a silly argument to say (and a typical socialist ploy) that "it would have only worked if not for x group I'm blaming."
If you want sustainable growth, you need smart government policies, not handouts. That's true whether there are 10 million or 0 illegal immigrants in the country, and their presence is (according to best economic guesses) more or less a wash in economic impact anyway. I think the whole immigration argument is taking valuable time and energy away from actual life-or-death issues for the country such as welfare reform and uneffing the healthcare system.
Put another way: if you disappear all illegal immigrants tomorrow, the country is still in a really bad place. If you disappear obamacare, reform welfare, and deregulate the economy tomorrow, no one gives an eff about a bunch of people who speak spanish trying to find work here.
Regardless, if you look at my original post, it's more about the arrogant overreach by Oblowme, deliberately circumventing Congressional authority, rather than the need for reform. IMO, immigration reform need to encompass a myriad of issues, but foremost are streamlining the immigration process to allow people to come here legally more easily, while still maintaining security, and SECURING THE DAMN BORDERS. If one can simply walk into the country, then they have no reason at all to try to do it the legal way. If they choose to come into the country illegally, then there is little motivation(or opportunity) to follow other laws, such as driver's licenses, vehicle insurance, pay taxes, etc.
