Don't misunderstand me. It's not like I haul stuff in my truck or tow things very often. But when I need to or want to I can do it on a moments notice.

I saw a couple of metrosexual looking college aged guys at Lowe's recently who bought themselves a new grill. They took it out of the box and had parts and pieces stuffed everywhere they could get them in their Toyota Corolla. They were trying to figure out how the second guy was going to get home since he could no longer fit in the car with all of the grill parts and pieces in there. I just laughed, got in my truck, and left.

So, for those of you who don't own a truck, how do you guys do it?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

From back east, we used van's. No One leaves shit anywhere one has eyes on it. Purchased a pick em up to move out here with. Pick ups, 4WD's, pull behind trailers for extra work load.

I've always had at least one truck. Have to with the toys. But I love the mpg of my civic when it is just getting from A to B. Although it seems like every trip out someone is trying to take me out.

Plowing snow, firewood and hauling the camper. My trucks get used. Even if I didn't use them like trucks I'd still drive a truck...just because I like them. Yeah, I wish my 3/4 ton diesel got 35 mpg, could do 0 - 60 in 3.5 seconds and hold a "g" on the skidpad, but it doesn't. I don't care. I'm willing to make the tradeoff because a truck is what I want to drive and when I need to haul 3,000 pounds of firewood across the side of a muddy or snowy hill, or attach the 7.5' plow that weighs almost 1000 pounds and will push 2' of snow, I can do those things. And that's good enough. And it's also good enough that other people don't want or need a truck. Leaves more for the rest of us!

I owned jeeps exclusively for the first 5 (?) cars of my life. Then I got a 3/4 ton cummins, which I later traded for a 1 ton.
It would be hard to go without. I was shocked my dad didn't have one all the years I was growing up since he does carpentry for a hobby. He did small imports, a minivan, an explorer, some jeeps. Now he has a 3/4 cummins himself, I think pushing 200k.

That said, I bought the first automobile of my life recently and not having to put a 1 ton pickup in downtown Denver (or Aurora) parking has been really nice.

I've been using the Jeep and a trailer for years, but I do miss having a pickup. One should be in the driveway next summer, if the finances work out according to plan.

    Jeep w/trailer = surrogate pickup.

I need a bumper sticker for my truck that says, "My other car is a Kenworth."
