Truck just makes sense to most of us it seems !
Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to Fight, he'll just kill you.
Plowing snow, firewood and hauling the camper. My trucks get used. Even if I didn't use them like trucks I'd still drive a truck...just because I like them. Yeah, I wish my 3/4 ton diesel got 35 mpg, could do 0 - 60 in 3.5 seconds and hold a "g" on the skidpad, but it doesn't. I don't care. I'm willing to make the tradeoff because a truck is what I want to drive and when I need to haul 3,000 pounds of firewood across the side of a muddy or snowy hill, or attach the 7.5' plow that weighs almost 1000 pounds and will push 2' of snow, I can do those things. And that's good enough. And it's also good enough that other people don't want or need a truck. Leaves more for the rest of us!

I owned jeeps exclusively for the first 5 (?) cars of my life. Then I got a 3/4 ton cummins, which I later traded for a 1 ton.
It would be hard to go without. I was shocked my dad didn't have one all the years I was growing up since he does carpentry for a hobby. He did small imports, a minivan, an explorer, some jeeps. Now he has a 3/4 cummins himself, I think pushing 200k.
That said, I bought the first automobile of my life recently and not having to put a 1 ton pickup in downtown Denver (or Aurora) parking has been really nice.
Obviously not a golfer.
I've been using the Jeep and a trailer for years, but I do miss having a pickup. One should be in the driveway next summer, if the finances work out according to plan.
Jeep w/trailer = surrogate pickup.
I need a bumper sticker for my truck that says, "My other car is a Kenworth."
