Default Getting on Military Bases Is About to Involve FBI Background Checks

    From http://www.nextgov.com/defense/2014/...-checks/90431/

Members of the defense community, starting this Friday, automatically will be screened against the FBI's criminal database when they try enter military installations and pulled aside if the system shows an arrest, felony or outstanding warrant.
Beginning this week, DOD's information technology system will tap the FBI’s National Crime Information Center system, Nextgov has learned.
In April, Pentagon top brass released an official memorandum establishing the right for IMESA to check FBI records. It states system users only can conduct searches against the FBI databases for "maintaining law and order" and for "crime prevention." IMESA will keep track of all users who query the database.
The tool will run an FBI background check regardless of "whether you are going to the commissary or to work," Butler told Nextgov during an interview.
So by this logic, don't I pass a background check every time I go on base and therefore I should be clear to purchase firearms instantly without waiting and without paying CBI their $10 fee?

Back in 2000 I did some survey work around Camp Pendleton with my dad. The guy at the gate kinda looked at our ID's and waved us through. We spent the whole day roaming around the base with giant poles checking drainage access and manhole covers and nobody even gave us a second look. Those days are long gone.

By the way, is the McDonalds there still awesome?

That actually makes perfect sense. Good luck.

I'd say something like, "can I have the subcutaneous RFID chip removed now?" But they would probably just revoke my clearance...

Remember that in this state the FBI check isn't good enough - have to check CBI and mental health databases and civil records for hints of domestic violence. If you don't want a BGC check, shoulda kept your FFL

This goes in the same bucket as my logic for my justification to just walk right through TSA Security Checks because I have a HazMat Endorsement on my Commercial Drivers License. To get the HazMat Endorsement, I had to pass through an FBI and TSA background check.

They don't wave you through? hmmm..................

jk, but i thought this same thing. They actually said at tsa checkpoint that having these might make it easier to get their little pass card though.
