Never spent a winter there but I've spent some time in the summer there in the southern part of the states. Make sure you stock up on "tick be gone".

Credit TFOGGER : Liberals only want things to be "fair and just" if it benefits them.
Credit Zundfolge: The left only supports two "rights"; Buggery and Infanticide.
Credit roberth: List of things Government does best; 1. Steal your money 2. Steal your time 3. Waste the money they stole from you. 4. Waste your time making you ask permission for things you have a natural right to own. "Anyone that thinks the communists won't turn off your power for being on COAR15 is a fucking moron."
Good for them!! Now, if we could pull the same shit here...![]()
I grew up there. The reason the winters are soo bad is that they chill you to the bone. There is a lot of moisture in the Ozark's. That is why the summers are really hot and winters are really cold. Just walking around you get this film of 'wet' that freezes you when the cold wind hits. It also make the trees get this coating of ice that can be very beautiful but shows how cold it is out there. Missouri can be great but the extremes of each season are common. Fall can be like a stereotype from a book, Spring is very wet. This also makes the bugs get the maximum of what they need. The ticks, chiggers, Mosquitos, etc are a handful. I love Missouri but am gonna stick with CO. BTW... MO is the Meth capital of the world (the other post is completly right on this one). That is no joke. A lot of people are dirt poor and Meth is cheap to make. One oddity is that you will have to get a full perscription to get simple cough/sleep medicine. This is due to again the meth, codine is apparently a main ingredient.
My life working is only preparation for my life as a hermit.

Roger that. Grew up in SE Kansas. Not far from the MO and definitely not a terrible place to live. Winters are usually quite mild. Spent many Thanksgivings and even Christmas in short sleeves. It is true that the humidity can make life miserable but it's not all bad.

One thing that more than makes up for the weather is the gun shows and shooting events. Deer hunting is awesome as long as you have access to land to hunt on. It's crazy that when I left, Kansas was loosening some gun laws. Finally allowing private ownership of full auto and silencers. A few years after being here now I can no longer legally buy normal capacity mags for many of my guns.
