You guys are all acting smart, but you are behind the times. It's illegal to do what you are doing.

AK545Man, yup, you show up at my house in a Jetta, you're parking on the road, no room in my driveway for imports, German, Jap, Korean, etc.

There's no difference anymore. Those who think they're "Buying AMerican" are full of it. Almost all of the parts are from outsourced countries, or even assembled there. Half of the cars GM and Ford make are either built in Mexico or Canada.

Most Toyotas and Hondas are built right here in the USA. Honda in fact employs quite a few people in Marysville Ohio.

A car is a car. There was a time when it was important to buy American, but it no loner applies anymore. We're too much of a global market economy for it to matter, unfortunatley.

Oh and FWIW, seems to me like the import car companies seem to have known what they were doing all along. I don't see any of them filing for bankruptcy protection.

I agree. My new truck says assembly done in US, but parts could be 50% from mexico and canada...

baton rouge, LA (I believe it is there) is getting a HUGE honda plant. it is being built right now. massive!!!!
If I didn't get the employee discount from GM I would still buy their trucks, but for cars I would be all over honda.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

Haha, I guess it is set up to help transparency, but there is still a lot of criticism about it.
