    Well... that didn't take long.
    http://www.cnn.com/2014/09/10/us/nfl...html?hpt=hp_t1

(CNN) -- Fired from his team and suspended indefinitely from the NFL, former Ravens running back Ray Rice's career has been sidelined.

But his punishment -- for an altercation in which he knocked out his then-fiancée -- may not keep him off the gridiron for good.

The history of sports includes many athletes-turned-villains who have found redemption.

And now, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, just two days after suspending Rice, told "CBS This Morning" that Rice might yet get another chance.

Asked if it might be possible for Rice to play in the NFL again, Goodell said, "I don't rule that out, but he would have to make sure that we are fully confident that he is addressing this issue."

"Clearly, he has paid a price for the actions he's already taken," he told CBS.

Whether any NFL coach or owner would provide that opportunity to the disgraced Rice at some point in the future is another question altogether.

I know I'll have to don the flame suit for this,,, but she did go after him first...... again I know I know... But I so severally hate the idea that the feminists push, that they are total equals in ALL ways, and then some broad gets hit cause she was acting like a man, and the same exact feminists want that guys life ruined. I mean for real, what exactly changed since the second video came out? we all knew he hit her. Goodell came up with a new policy literally just for this. 6 games. then he goes indefinite.. the fiance married the guy. we are in no position to judge that. maybe money or whatever. but it was still her choice. Sure, if I was the ravens, cut him.. but then it was like goodell had to do better than that even...

just such pandering bullshit to me.

The only reason that would justify striking a woman would be a legit threat to life. A woman smacking, spitting, cussing, nagging, punching eye etc is never an excuse. If leaving is an option do so, if you're confined to an elevator protect your vitals and flee. If she's got a gun, knife, bat etc etc by all means.

If it's a dude doing those things, drop you cell phone and do it.

It wasn't a feminist push when my dad instilled those ideals in my brain 20-30 years ago.

Now I totally agree with this myself... we do have to acknowledge that we are both saying the softer sex, isn't just softer, it's weaker.... at least in this case physically. The part that I have the problem with is the movement where it's a 100% equal all situations, I am woman hear me roar, bla bla bla... then everybody loses their fuckin minds at something like this... she went after him. he smacked her back, she came back even stronger, and he dropped her. again... he SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE THAT. but I mean goddamn.. at what point can we please say, "he bitch, here is a really good way to not get knocked out.. quit acting like a fuckin man. thank you".

Just wanna play Devil's Advocate here. I don't know what led up to the ordeal, but I will agree on the equality-when-it-suits-me standard. That whole idea that it's never okay to hit a woman is asinine.

I agree. The only acceptable time to hit a woman is the same as the only acceptable time to hit another man: When one is defending one's self from a credible and immediate threat of bodily injury. Striking a woman in ANGER is NEVER ok. Neither is striking another man in anger, but the "credible threat" part gains some latitude if he is comparably sized. In other words, violence is not an acceptable response to words in a civilized society, particularly when those words come from a person that is significantly smaller/weaker/less skilled than you.
Light a fire for a man, and he'll be warm for a day, light a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life...

Discussion is an exchange of intelligence. Argument is an exchange of
ignorance. Ever found a liberal that you can have a discussion with?

    Good post!

Maybe we need women to be labeled now. "Lady" and "Person". I will say that it is NEVER okay to strike a "Lady".. A lady won't intentionally provoke a man, but then a gentleman won't allow themselves to be provoked to physical violence. It is all about self control, and I think some of the slant here is the double standard that "men" must have self control whereas a "woman" can do as she pleases without fear of physical violence, or even demeaning (even if accurate) speech about her or her actions...that is a very wrong and flawed version to which society has crept.

If the NFL wants to be serious, then any criminal conviction results in a 1 year suspension and treatment program, any felony conviction results in a lifetime ban. They won't do it for the same reason that the politicians in Washington won't do what is right for the people of the US...$$$.
