    Default Got a Jury Summons...

Today I received a jury summons for Douglas County for my late mom. She never resided in Douglas County. A death certificate was issued almost 1 year ago in El Paso County.

I am curious how Douglas County added her to their jury list I never filed any paperwork for her in Dougco. Did the Postal Service give her name to Dougco when I had her mail forwarded to my address? Obviously they shared it with advertisers cause she gets the same junk mail as I do.

Did they get it from the IRS? I filed a tax return with my address. But it was clearly documented that it was for her estate.

But on voting day, this brings up another question. How easy would it have been to have my girlfriend get a second ballot in my mom's name. I have her signature on a few ID cards and have her SS card, and it would not be that hard to duplicate. If she registered today, would they catch that she had a death certificate issued a year ago? Is this how easy it is to vote often? Of course, I am too fearful of the consequences of do it. Isn't it a felony so I would loose my right to bear arms?

Anyway, I am just going to toss it and see how the system works in going after someone who skips jury duty. If they even bother. It would be a waste of tax payer time and money, but maybe they shouldn't added a dead person who has never lived in their county to the jury pool.

It is pretty easy to commit crimes, if you are so inclined and motivated. Voter fraud is just a type of identity fraud.

Contact the clerk in Douglas Co. and ask them to address your questions. I am sure there are others besides myself who would be interested in their answers. Give them a few days as they may be a bit busy for the rest of the week.

My late wife got a jury duty notification a few months after her death. Just give them a call, they're actually great to deal with. It's fortunate to have our tax dollars going to county government that actually seems to give a damn.

I wish technology solved people issues. It seems to just reveal them.

How was I chosen for Jury Service?
Each year, the Judicial Branch receives lists of all registered voters and all holders of driver’s licenses and non-driver identification cards throughout the state, as well as records from the Colorado Department of Revenue. The lists are merged, duplicates and names of deceased citizens are removed, and the resulting list is divided by county location. Throughout the year, each county requests a certain number of names, based on the number of trials scheduled, which are randomly selected from the list.

Most likely they are expanding the jury pool into other areas because of difficulty finding jurors. (Holmes trial or similar)

Please give them a call, why clutter the system up more with a no show juror that can easily be fixed. The jury commissioner for that county should be great to deal with and answer the phone pretty quickly. If you'd like, wait until thursday or friday, they will be less busy those days.

Sometimes assholes push people down stairs.
That doesn't mean "stairs are bad" nor does it make someone who pushes someone down the stairs any less of an asshole.

My mother in law died a year ago. No estate, no insurance, no nothing. Died dead ass broke with some debt. Filed all the proper paperwork w the state, social security etc. we still get demand letters from various credit card companies and other people she owed. Not big $$$. Couple hundred here and there. Since day 1 we have sent them letters with a copy of the death certificate. we still get the letters and bills. After several return mailings, we have resorted to sending the bill with sharpie " just checked, she's still dead".

"this is going to look bad on her credit report"

frankly, the collection agency probably thinks you're lying. I STILL get harassing calls from collection agencies from the Democrat that owned my cell Phone# before I got it.. like 5-6 F'ing YEARS AGO.

I now have fun with them... look up Tom Mabe- or if I'm alone, I'll just go vulgar... they called me, no reason I can't ask what she's wearing- in a REALLY creepy voice. They're harassing me thru no fault of mine, I figure turn about is fair play.

when your love one passed whoever handled your probate, send all the creditors to them.

tell them "I am recording this call, your repeated calls constitute harassment, to me and my household, please contact her executor."

likely they will hang up immediately after your first statement..
you can also caller ID them and report them to the AG of the state of CO as a company giving you harassing phone calls.. (this can get their phone blacklisted)
