Default Anyone else having rust problems this year?

I'm assuming its because of the humidity that we've had this year. I've never had this much of a rust problem in the 7 years I've lived in CO. I've pulled out numerous items out of the safe to only find a bunch of rust on them. Luckily its just surface rust and it all just wipes away, but its still makes the heart skip a beat.

Anyone know of any good rust inhibitors for the safe?

Yes a little. I just check and oil more often.

Never had rust issues. Not even when I lived down on the Gulf Coast. Keep them clean and lube them before you store them and they should be fine.

These are cool. I've had to charge mine more often this year though.

Those seem pretty nice. I might pick up one of those soon.

I've never really had a problem with the rust in CO, until this year. I'll admit though... I'm pretty bad about cleaning them.

I really like the color indicator on the silica or whatever it is, if only because that lets me judge how much moisture is getting into the safe. Had the safe in the garage for a while and I wondered if the hot/cool temperature swings would cause a moisture problem, but it was showing that it really wasn't getting much moisture at all. At least until this year, have probably charged mine at least twice this summer when it went months if not a year most of the time because it's so dry out here.

Our gauge indicates an average of 45 - 51% RH this summer, seems a little high. Having a whole house humidifier i turned the RH adjustment till it came on, @ 45% Another year of rain later in the season doesn't help . I use that crystal kitty litter for moisture control in the safes

I only own 1 gun that I need to worry about rust with: a '94 Winchester 94 in .30-30. I check it regularly.

This reminds me I haven't had the 7mag out of the safe for quite some time. Might be time to pull it out and clean it up a bit and re-lube it.
