Default The "I Really Miss That" or "I Haven't Had That In Years" Thread

While stationed at Misawa AB, Japan from 80-83 I grew very fond of Georgia Iced Coffee. It was sold from vending machines and it was delicious. It's actually made by Coca-Cola but it's very difficult, if not impossible, to find in the US. You can buy a 30-pack from Amazon for $190. It's good, but not that good.

But, thanks to Sharpienads, I now have a 30-pack chilling in my fridge. He humped it all the way back from Japan just so I'd stop whining about it. We each had one and, after almost 32 years, it was as good as I remember.

28 left. I'll have to go on a strict rationing program.

I remember growing up with real local cheeses. Moving around as a military brat the cheese changes drastically as you move around the country and the world.
Now with all the maga supermarket chains all cheese is just blah unless you go to a specialty shop.

For those that have been in Canada or near the border, poutine, ketchup potato chips, butter tarts.
From France, fresh Baguettes and Macaroons.
From Germany, Roggenmischbrot and regional sausages
From Hawaii, Saimin soup, fish tacos and loco moco
From Alaska, fresh Salmon and Cram
From New York, Bagels and real Buffalo Wings from Buffalo (anchor Bar) and Beef on Weck
From Missouri and Texas- Catfish fry
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Fish tacos? From Hawaii? WTF ...

You can get loco moco at L&L's on Powers & Barnes in Colo Spgs. The Asia-Pacific Market on Platte & Wooten has S&S saimin in the frozen food section.

What I miss from Hawai`i Nei are fresh mangos and papaya right off the tree (well, usually picked 2-3 days before perfect ripeness to stay ahead of the dang birds) and Wahiawa pineapple picked perfectly ripe off the plant the day I took it home (one of the perks working at Dole -- we knew what fields had the lowest acid and highest sugar contents, I could order a case of 5 or 6 pines for $8 and ask to pickers to have put ones in the case that would be ready now, in 2 days, 4 days ...).
