    Default Zero Hour Deer

Spent all month hunting white tails along the Poudre. Had lots of close encounters with does, a few bucks, a bull moose and lots of mosquito bites, back pain, and leg numbness that almost brought me to tears. Even drew my bow back on a buck on the first morning, but was never able to get a clean shot.

Went out in the evening for my last few hours of the season. Pull up to the gate of the property and this nice little muley is staring at me about 40 yrds away. Sit and watch her for a minute and she just keeps on eating... I get out of my car and she just looks at me and keeps on eating... Open the back of my 4runner and she keeps on eating.... Pulll out my bow, nock an arrow, and she keeps on eating..... Draw back my bow from 40 yrds and let an arrow fly and she stops eating..... Hell.... I didn't even turn my vehicle off.... LOL!

Now, the best part of the story..... She runs onto the neighbors property and drops. Being the good hunter that I am, I knock on the guys door to get permission. We end up talking for about 20 minutes and he's going to let me hunt his property next year... So I just increased my territory by another 20-25 acres!

Outstanding! Persistence pays off, with a bonus! Looks like a perfect shot too.

I thought it was a little to far back on her at first, but it ended up being a double lung hit with a complete pass through. Was kinda proud of myself for that shot.. It was the longest one I've taken on a real deer.

Well I didn't just start running after her after... I had to go back and move my car through the gate and get an extra arrow, just in case.......

Great story and photo, and always good to have the meat, congrats Bryjcom. Adding 20 acres to your hunt area is a big plus for next year.

That is awesome, cut your work in half! I was able to get a leftover muzzle tag in the unit I'm hunting pronghorn in this weekend. If I understand it correctly it allows for either Muley or Whitetail doe. Nice shot by the way.
