My dog got it once years ago too. The important thing is to flush their eyes and get it out of the mucus membranes. There are various concoctions online. Also the pet stores sell shampoos designed to deal with skunk (bud).
Our dog got it three nights in a row. We tried Tomatoe Juice, product called Skunk Off and a mixture of lemon juice and mayonaise, but nothing worked. Then we were told by a rancher friend to get something called Odors Away. We used that and the dog smelled like bubble gum until the skunk smell wore off.
You can get it on Amazon or even at an Ace Hardware.

Our old Dachshunds killed a couple. The first time the wife opened the door and they promptly started rubbing on the carpet. Skunk oil and blood all in one. One we caught in a trap and they were not fazed. Kept trying to chew through the trap to get to it.
I see you running, tell me what your running from
Nobody's coming, what ya do that was so wrong.
Just read up on "Odors Away" - sounds like great stuff. I'll pick some up on my way home.
Thanks!
Meanwhile, I figure I picked up the odor from washing the dog this morning. I made a run to Safeway to pick up hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to wash my hands - they were making me nauseous. Seems to have worked better than anything so far. Hand soap masked the smell for a few minutes, and hand sanitizer seemed to make it worse.
Setting the trap tonight to get the little bastard.
Thanks again to smokeyradio for the "Odors Away" recommendation.
I put a couple of drops into several shot glasses and placed them around the house.
I put one drop on the dog after washing him in the peroxide/soda bath.
Woke up this morning, and the house and dog has no more skunk smell.
Awesome stuff!
