Holder is resigning

I think he just wants out while Senator Reid can still control the confirmation process for his successor. If the democrats lose the Senate, it's entirely possible that there won't be a successor confirmed until 2017. Unlikely, but possible.

ETA: I think the FnF ruling is also a big part of the timing. Like maybe half and half. But Holder has been whining about wanting to quit for a while.
