As far as the government goes, I think the most frustrating part isn't that they are bumbling; it's that they are doing it on purpose. Our government is perfectly capable of containing this, they just choose not to do so. There is a line in that movie "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" about people making terrible personal decisions, just to avoid making other people uncomfortable.

I also think they're not broadcasting the true reach of it yet. We only hear of 1 or 2 cases officially. Yet, you hear of potentials on airplanes, cruise ships, 7 being quarantined in Ohio, etc. I really wish we could have an accurate count and location of infections. Right now, they're trying to stop panic. ESPECIALLY right before the holiday shopping season. Would be a big hit on the economy if no one went to malls to go shopping. There's no reason to panic yet but I feel its time to make sure things are in order. That's just my thoughts on it for now. First major quarantine and it wont be good.

They don't bumble when it's potentially in their own yard...

The Pentagon police have shut down a building entrance and a portion of the south parking lot because a woman was sick and told emergency personnel that she had recently been to West Africa, officials said.
Arlington County, Virginia responded with a HazMat team and was treating the woman as a possible Ebola case. She was taken to a local hospital by ambulance on Friday.
Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Tom Crosson said that out of an abundance of caution, all pedestrian and vehicle traffic was stopped across 17 lanes of the huge parking lot around 10am.

I think it is telling that the media is allowed to spread panic and fear over things like H1N1 that are not major threats, and then everyone is silent when a real threat comes along.

Well, isn't this nice!! Dallas hospital had the FilmArray product that the .mil uses to quickly diagnose Ebola, but they weren't allowed to use it!

Incredibly, it was present at Dallas Presbyterian Hospital when Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan walked through the door, complaining of fever and he had just come from Liberia. Duncan was sent home, but even still,FDA guidelines prohibited the hospital from using the machine to screen for Ebola.

I had seen a short article on that too but didn't have another source to collaborate it. Thanks for the link. Can't believe the hospital couldn't use the equipment they had on hand.

And I remember this blog post from July. The DOD was issuing rapid detection kits as early as April. This link contains source information.

You mean those 50K unfortunate children (some who were sick) that were dispersed throughout the U.S. ?

I inquired about the 4 in tx because a family member received an e-m, telling them 4 people were quarantined in her neighborhood. OOPS. Wonder if the pizza delivery guy received a good tip.

Don't worry, ISIS will do something to get the attention they want.
