Despite promises by all asunder that any Ebola epidemic in America will be "contained" the dreadful news this morning appears to confirm this is not the case. From one patient, Eric Duncan, just 2 days ago, to 4 schools and 18 people yesterday (according to Texas Governor Rick Perry) to today where

NBC News has confirmed with the Dallas county health and human services that 80 people came into contact with the Dallas Ebola patient or his family (including 12-18 direct).

Now we get to witness another example of government ineptitude and wrong doing.

I'm stocking up on some canned goods today.

If terrorists are as evil and want to kill us as badly as I have been led to believe they do, and ebola is as deadly as I have been told, then we should be seeing a major and widespread outbreak in the United States in short order. Assuming there are lots of radical muslims that aren't on any watch lists, if any of them wanted to intentionally get infected with Ebola I would think they easily could, and would have 5-20 days or whatever to travel wherever they want in the US and wipe their snot or blood on hand railings at public areas all over the place. Then after a couple of days they'll check into a hospital and keep their fingers crossed, or stay out on the street and wait for their 72 virgins.

And then each of the people who touch those bodily fluids will have 5-20 days to obliviously go around touching things in public, and so on and so forth. How can something like that be contained? It's not like we can even hope for a second to contain the common cold or flu once a certain number of people have it. And winter is coming, which is going to make it even worse with everyone being indoors all the time.

This is so obvious, they will either do this or they're not actually interested in trying to come here to kill us.

I agree, sometimes we need to sit back and observe, this is one of those times. Let it burn itself out in Africa.

The thing that makes me shake my head about this particular outbreak/strain, and the seemingly low level of worry. Typically ebola pops un in Africa and wipes out a village or a small cluster population and goes dormant. The death count keeps rising and this strain keeps spreading.

Typically, you contract the disease go symptomatic and die fairly quickly or survive. This strain based on what I have seen from WHO people are living longer and providing more opportunity to spread the disease. This could get really bad, before it gets any better.
