    Default Rail length question

A lot of my builds have been 13" or 15" handguard lately. What rail length and rails do you prefer? Ex...9,11,13,15, smooth, pic or keymod. Thanks.

Sorry i I don't know how to set up a poll

I like them in the 10-11" range usually. Did have one with a 15" that I really liked as well. I prefer smoother or keymod type rails.

Depends on your preference of front sight / gas block, A2, folding flip, Or hidden with ...........longer rail. I'm running a piston on my SBR so the longer rail is out of the picture. The next build, another 9mm SBR, will probably be a key mod, depending on price point. I see amazon (of all places) is selling 10-13, 15" keymods with 3 rail attachments incl for $129, figure $135 shipped.
The 9mm SBR i have now is a smooth F/Float unit. Spouse is running a Carbon Arms tube.

I want to run a long one (har har), say, 15", smooth & light as possible. I want an 18" barrel just for 3-gun. JP Precision adjustable gas block. Miculek compensator. I'm not going to mount anything on the "rail", so I guess it should be called the foreguard.

Don't forget compatibility with the rest of the parts you want to use. How you're going to connect it to the [stripped?] upper, is there a front sight post, gas block, length of gas system, will you have to remove a pinned compensator if it's already on the barrel, etc.
