My wife is a grade school teacher.

She did something like your experiment with the kids, but it was 2-fold:
    a) to show them how well (or badly) they wash their hands
    b) to show them how they spread germs

    Part a:
    1) Got some clear 'goop' that you can only see under a blacklight, and had them do the hand slathering thing
    2) Had them to wash their hands as BEST as they could
    3) Had them look at their hands after washing, under a blacklight, to show them what they missed

    Part b:
    1) At the end of the day,
    2) she shut off the lights
    3) Went around the room with the blacklight to show them everything they touched (i.e., the 'germs' they could have spread)

    Quite a 'revealing' exercise.

That's a good experiment. An interesting twist, would be for her to not have included 1-5 kids, and see how much they ended up with on them at the end of the day.

Agreed. That would be interesting to see. I bet with kids, the goop would be all over their hands and faces by the end of the day.

Want to really freak, read this: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/germ...1555815295&r=1

I worked in BioTech for 3 years and took 2 graduate level biological engineering courses, sure, I might be a bit of a germophobe. Concentrate people, you will eventually get a hug kill off one way or another.

I was clean room (<10ppm) certified multiple times, never failed, but I was shocked that so few of my co-workers could not consistently pass.

After getting the great news I had to be in Dallas this week. Not only did i notice how much you personally touch but watch how much other people inadvertently touch each other. Yep germophobe in full swing right now. Clorox wipes and purell are at the ready (now only if I can remember when I put my tin hat)

Yeah, its a little disturbing. I'm trying to limit my contact with door handles and other common public things like drinking fountains. BTW, make sure your hand sanitizer is at least 60% alcohol (Most of them on the shelf are, but it's good to be sure) or it might not kill all the Ebola sauce.

I've been practicing taking gloves off correctly after working on my car each day this week.

name brand Purrell is 70% so all good there. But between last week and now flying to WI and having to be back in TX nest week. Another eye opener is how well the airlines don't clean their planes, although with this scare in Boston and the nurse in Dallas contracting ebola, might give some people a clue on how serious this is/can become.
