Default Anyone have a 5-40 thread repair kit?

Just wondering if anyone has this that I could use and buy two(2) 5-40 helicoils off of. I know I can buy one online for $30 but I dont need all the helicoils it comes with plus I will most likely need this one time.

If no one has the tap and helicoils, can someone tell me where I can buy locally? I tried to buy two helicoils online for $.91 each but shipping was $11

Did you try Napa or another auto part store?

I didn't. I tried every local hardware store and thought the auto stores wouldn't have that stuff either. Guess I will try napa tomorrow!

Give Tool Zone a call, they're off of 104th and Huron in the old albertsons lot.

Well no such luck with buying this in town. I've called everyone, and I mean everyone that I could think of. I either get "we dont carry that" or "we can order that for you"! Well I might just have to break down and order online and spend $30+ on two 5-40 helicoils and tap.

A and I Bolt and Nut might have 'em. Also try Kaman Industrial supply, maybe even Grainger, or Fastenal.

    fastenal, CD Fastener, or grainger
a 5-40 is more likely to be found in an electronics supply house. Fistells on Bannock, Mark carries everything
hell they still use rotary phones. even if they don't have it, well worth the trip to denver to check out a REAL Electronics repair/parts store, piece of history.

Thanks for all the help guys but I ended up buying from stockwiseauto.com since they had the kit for $23 shipped to my door. I did call almost everyplace mentioned above and the companies that had the kit wanted more than online...
