    Default barrel fair market value/interest?

I'm thinking of going to a 14.5" barrel (fixed fh to make 16") for my Colt 6920, seems to be more efficient to sell the old barrel and buy a new one. Original is from 2008, less than 500 rds through it (yeah, I know many do that in one day lol, but most of my shooting has been with pistols). What would be a fair value and do you guys think there'd be much interest? Thanks.

The question is What do You think it's worth?
There are 3-4 threads asking about values, what's my XXX worth? As i've replied in those, browse the TP forums see how many items are collecting dust vs SOLD and you'll see how little just about any firearm related items is worth.
I can buy New bbls for an average of $100. To some Colt may bring the fanboi out. To others it's another used 16" bbl.

Thanks, I've seen prices all over the place, didn't know if the Colt had any particular panache or following. I guess I'd just like to get something fair, frankly I'm better informed on various handgun/parts prices then I am on the AR platform. Still haven't decided to definitely do this-I have a particular style of carbine I'm considering emulating-the same configuration as the M4 my son carried during his deployments. If I decide to go ahead I'll see what my outlay will be then go from there.

    I appreciate the honest response.

Just buy the new barrel, and when you replace the old one, take it grease it up and wrap in plastic, then set in the back of a closet.
Then when TEOTWAWKI happens you will have a spare barrel. Or some highly valued trading fodder.

I sold an unused 14.5" Colt barrel a while ago for around $300 IIRC.

Ah, but the quantifier on that barrel is that it was "unused".

I'm not saying it's equivalent. Just a reference point that might help guide him to an answer.

If the price is right someone will buy it. Over on Arfcomm there's COLT! parts once again collecting cust. The big movers right now are A1 uppers, 20" 1:12 pencil bbls and triangle hand guards.
Retro is in, Again. Another mover are the 10.5" uppers. With the sig brace people are doing DOD clones.

Give it time, the market will make an adjustment. Hopefully. With vendors dumping uppers for $2-399 ADD BCG for $100 more, used isn't moving.
