I'm stepping ONTO my soapbox ....
The holes in the law, are entirely the Democrat Legislators' fault.
(I call them HOLES because they are there out of ignorance; LOOPHOLES are there out of oversight)
They wanted so badly to put SOME anti mag stuff on the books, no matter how poorly written.
I watched the hearing (I usually don't watch that stuff...but I did).
The Republicans, for hours, pointed out almost all of the holes in the bill at the hearing.
They BEGGED the Democrats to come and debate the issues...but as they Dems had the majority vote, they sat quietly until the republicans were done.
The law was so poorly written, that the Sheriffs filed suit, and said "There is no way we can enforce this law...it has too many holes."
Then Hick got the State's Attorney to draft a letter of 'Technical Guidance' on what the law was SUPPOSED to say, to address some issues.
The letter was drafted on 16MAY13. Almost 2 months BEFORE the law was to go into effect.
(When is the last time you saw a law, not yet in effect, need the State's Attorney to 'explain' what it was 'SUPPOSED' to say?
The letter is to have the Force of Law.
I still can't figure what "Force of Law" is. At trial, a judge is supposed to adjudicate based on the laws; the laws that are on the books.
The letter seems like it can be used to 'frame' the context, but not as a defensible argument for the state's prosecutor.
Q: What kind of Law needs to have an accompanying letter to explain what was 'intended', BEFORE the law goes into effect, any way ? (Rhetorical )
A: A Poorly written one.
Then on 19JUN13, Hick blamed his signing of the bill on the promise of a staff member.
So my stance is that all the holes are the responsibility of the Democrats; those that authored it, those that did not understand it, and those that were too afraid of their party to get up, debate it, and re-write it.
...I'm stepping OFF my soapbox now.

The fattest knight at King Arthur’s round table was Sir Cumference. He acquired his size from too much π.
This was interesting because it was in Denver, he had a Draco with at least one full magazine next to his pile of drugs. They charged him with the new state statute instead of the Denver AWB. And he plead down to that magazine charge.
I'm thinking that the Denver AWB doesn't have a "with intention to commit a crime" component that the state charge does.
I'm started to see leftist whiners come out of the woodwork about how the state is going to completely flip Republican. They can see the writing on the wall but aren't smart enough to get out of the way. The best part is hearing them blame gun owners for it...as if it's our responsibility to just take the shit spooned out by the Dem majority. If they didn't want to get bit, they shouldn't have kicked the dog.

Keep Calm and Carry.
Why is buying an alleged illegal mag such a big deal ?
There are millions of them in the state, legally, per the mag law's provisos.
Even if they claimed to buy an honest to goodness standard cap mag, many of the sheriffs have decided to 'Choose to NOT Enforce' the law.
Apparently, that is their choice, as was demonstrated by the DC Police/City when David Gregory possessed an illegal 30-rd mag on National TV, in the city of Washington DC, and the police/city chose to "NOT PRESS CHARGES".
As far as telling someone how to retrofit a mag...just search YouTube and the web.
You will find out how to make MUCH worse things out of legal household items.

From their mouths to God's ear! We can only hope.
One blessing we have is that Democrats are filed to the brim with hubris ... had they waited until after this election and after they completely set up protocols to prevent the Republicans from ever retaking power in the state to push their gun control nonsense they might have been able to make it stick and made them much worse (and this goes tipple if they are successfully able to destroy TABOR in the courts).
Instead they jumped the gun on gun control (no pun intended) and it may cost them their takeover of Colorado.
But hey, I'm riding a Halloween candy sugar buzz so I'm in an unusually optimistic mood![]()
