Today, My MIL who's out handling her husband of 62 yrs passing last Tuesday, stops to buy gas. She pumps it, walks in to pay, and while walking out, drops her wallet out of her purse. The wallet hits the ground with plastic going everywhere. A couple people jump to help her pick it up....but one "older white guy" grabs the wallet and runs off!
The store manager sees it all, knows the guy as a regular and has picture perfect video of him both walking into and out of the store. Cops are called, paperwork done. Waiting.
Just now a "older white guy" just called her and said he "found" her wallet and seeing all her blood pressure prescriptions, etc thinks he'll take it to a nearby station and leave it for her.
We've given her HARD instructions that regardless of what she gets back, how apologetic whomever may be, that she IS to press charges. I believe she will.
BTW, there was no money in the wallet. But her SS card and DL was. This was in Cleveland, TN.
