Default So...I just got a scammer call.

I got about 4 calls today from 800-111-3344. Finally answered late this afternoon, against my better judgment. Instantly recognized it as a scam call from the "Hello" that was echoed every time I said "hello". Guy with an Asian(?) accent tries to tell me he's from the Federal Bureau of the Government Treasury or something. He was really hard to understand. I hung up and went to my cell carrier's website to block the number.

Meanwhile, Mr Secret Asian Fed calls back and gets a message in before the block takes effect. In the message, which I saved, he calls me by name, drops a lot of f-bombs and mother f-bombs, says he knows where I live, threatens to sexually assault every female member of my family, threatens to cut my throat, tells me his grandson is Barack Obama, and on and on.

Now here's the thing. In my perfect fantasy world he'd show up and I'd ventilate his face and torso with a 5.56 round or six.

In the real world in which we live I have to work within the system. I've made numerous complaints to the Colorado AG's office regarding the multitude of scam callers we've been getting over the last year. With absolutely no feedback. Not even a "gee, we'd like to help but we're really busy with real crime" response. And I know many of these scam calling outfits are calling from off-shore. But you'd think US law still applies when the recipient of the calls is in the US. With the resources of the state and federal governments you'd think they could do something to these people. I'm really doubtful that these calls, even though they're using spoofed numbers, can't be tracked down with today's technology.

But this one raises the bar and pissed me off. I know the guy was just trying to push my buttons. I get that. But when someone threatens my family that's crossing a line.

I'm thinking of launching a crusade to get the AG's office to do SOMETHING about this. Even if it's a slap on the wrist. Enough is enough.

Forget the AG's office. Last few time i picked up the ph w/out looking @ Caller ID it was some dick head. Told them i was on no call, why were they bothering me. Well sir that No Call list ONLY APPLIES to calls made within the United States. I'm located in canada. CLICK.

I'll have to research a little but my reasoning is this: Under Colorado law harassment by phone can be prosecuted in either the jurisdiction where the call is placed or the jurisdiction where the call is received (or at least that was the case when I was on the job). So I'm guessing federal law works the same way. Finding someone who will actually do anything about it is a different story.

Within the confines of the U.S. AND yes, GOOD LUCK finding someone who would do anything about it.

Maybe you could write out a list of pre riot demands, to get some movement higher up the food chain.
