Default Finished the paper on 20th century Democratic Racism

Ended up focusing on the Klan's Democratic constituency and the Civil Rights follies on the left. I only briefly touched on eugenics and the '90s. The paper only required 1500 words and I had two exams this week, so I ended up leaving out the 70s and 80s social engineering, as well the late years. It's admittedly a pretty rushed affair, but I figured I'd link you guys to it in case you're interested in what came of it.

Looking forward to your grade. Suspect a passing, barely, with lots of contradictory comments.

Good read and decently written. Too bad you couldn't have gotten to the Al Sharptons, Sheila Jackson Lee's and the like.

I am sure you are going to make the Profs head assplode!

Are you qualified to know the difference between camel toes and moose knuckles?

Oh, and to somewhat stay on topic (sort of)...

I heard Rush Limbaugh say the other day that the president is black and all republicans are racist.

Too many statists, not enough time.

Interesting read Zero. I would first like to start off with the fact that I admire your attempt to counter what you perceive as an "inadequate" ( and I believe it is ) education that you are paying for. I made many such attempts myself while obtaining my degrees ( albeit on different subjects ) and unfortunately paid for it with a lower grade. One thing you should recognize in a university system is that creating an emotionally driven document whether at school or in "real life" is always destined to be scrutinized and receive lesser attention. The politics of this country are about as linear as a broken circle.

The demographic shift in the south was more from a conservatism aspect to a liberal aspect as opposed to Democrat vs. Republican and it was all based on voter demographic. Comparing a turn of the 19th century Republican to a Democrat in modern day in my opinion is almost impossible as both constituencies have done more about faces than a recruit in boot camp. Neither party has stuck to their core principle values and in effect a a polar shift occurred during the 30's. A good example of this would be to ask a Conservative Southern Republican what ideologies they have in common with a Republican in 1856. The answer will probably be nothing. A fantastic study on this is the Roosevelt family. I would read any and all things about their politics and somewhat inbred bloodlines. Regarding Robert Byrd, you will most likely encounter his rebuttal " Be sure you avoid the Ku Klux Klan. Don't get that albatross around your neck. Once you've made that mistake, you inhibit your operations in the political arena." In his last autobiography, Byrd explained that he was a KKK member because he "was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision — a jejune and immature outlook — seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions." Byrd also said, in 2005, "I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened." So much for convictions.

Most people in my opinion are sheep. They follow the crowd in an attempt to gain approval by those with like interests ( you, it appears are in no way a sheep ). It is impossible in my opinion that 2 large groups of people share all of the same opinions, yet we are burdened by a two party system. If Modern day Republicans or Democrats thought they could drum up more votes by switching stances they would all do so in a second. We are a society of contradictions ( Romney former gov. of Mass? Harry Reid in NV ?! )

There are things I like about some politicians and things I hate about others. We live in a dynamic society where the demographics are changing everyday. I believe the future will be more about Conservatives, Moderates, and Liberals. The polls tell us so much. The likes of Jeb Bush and Chris Christie ( I can't stand Christie ) are far more likely to get elected than Rick Perry or Newt Gingrich. Kudos on advancing your education.
